Freelance Writer & Business Development

Full-time (Berlin/Germany)

Starting on December 1st, 2012

Deskmag is looking for a freelance writer who likes to write about the coworking & freelancer movement and to assist us in developing our magazine.

Your role:

  • You will publish 2-3 articles per week which will be fully credited with your name (include research, interviews, events or products)
  • Execution of business development strategy
  • This role includes research, analysis, proposal writing, editorial & technical management of Deskmag
  • PR Communications including researching and contacting potential advertisers

Who we’re looking for:

  • You know what coworking is and are motivated to gain more knowledge about this type of work
  • You are a native English speaker
  • Skills in Market research and/or practical experiences in Journalism
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Expertise in partnerships and business development
  • Knowledge of CRM programs
  • Knowledge of social media
  • Team player who works well with others
  • Possess a EU passport or work permit for Germany

A plus but not a must:

  • Skills in SPSS or Stata
  • Ability to translate articles from Spanish or Portuguese or German or French into English
  • Skills in Photoshop, Indesign
  • A basic understanding of HTML, CSS, PHP

  • The position will be based in Berlin, starting December 1st for a minimum of six months

Writer & Community Development: Internship

6 Months, starting on December 1st (Berlin/Germany)

Deskmag is looking for an intern who like to join the development of our coworking magazine.

Your role:

  • You will publish one article per week which will be fully credited with your name (include research, interviews, events or products)
  • Community & event management
  • This role will assist in research, analysis, proposal writing, editorial & community management of Deskmag including managing our social media channels, event productions and promotions, and the release of our first (annual) print magazine
  • Helping with small administrative tasks

Who we’re looking for:

  • You know what coworking is and/or are motivated to gain knowledge about this new type of work quickly
  • You are a native English speaker
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of social media
  • Skills in Photoshop & Indesign (!)
  • Knowledge of event organization and community management
  • Possess a EU passport or work permit for Germany
  • Skills in German, Spanish, French or Portuguese (at least one language for translations if needed)
  • Independently self motivated & reliable team player with strong initiative

A plus but not a must:

  • Skills in SPSS

  • Outstanding interns will grow with the company and be invited to join the core team in a variety of roles after June 30, 2012

  • This is NOT a typical unpaid coffee getting, faxing, and filing internship position.

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to translate articles from Spanish or Portuguese or German or French into English (at least one language)
