Yardi Kube: A single connected platform for flexible workspace management
Yardi Kube

Studiomates is a great example of how a coworking space can help businesses succeed, and bring life into the community. For example, a couple years after starting Studiomates, Eisenberg created Tattly, a company selling “designy” temporary tattoos created by “the world’s greatest designers”.

Eisenberg was inspired to start Tattly when she felt that there weren’t enough suitable temporary tattoo options for her young daughter.  Mussari explains that the advantageous swissmiss “had a few of her desks that she normally rented out reserved for Tattly, but since then it has exploded and Tattly now has its own studio”.

Like Tattly, CreativeMornings was also founded by Eisenberg in 2009, and has seen just as much success as the temporary tattoo enterprise. Creative mornings, a monthly breakfast and lecture series that started small in the Studiomates space, now sees over 300 people and also plays into Eisenberg’s focus on the importance of making connections face to face and experiencing a sense of community.

Located in the same building as Studiomates, is a relatively new coworking space, Post Road Coworking. The space is bright, window lit and full of plants. It offers a very affordable coworking experience starting at just 300 dollars a month for a flexible workstation desk and 450 dollars a month for a personal desk.

Post Road prides itself on its fantastic waterfront location and open atmosphere. With so much happening in DUMBO it’s no wonder that Post Road is confident in its ability to offer an open community of creative types.

Of course if you want to check out coworking on another block, you can go over to Main Street, visit the Galapagos art gallery and pop into The Digital Zone. The Digital Zone offers a quiet and friendly coworking environment directly on the waterfront for only 550 dollars a month, or 150 dollars a week. On their website, The Digital Zone explains that “when you come in to the space we are just geeking out on our computers, designing programs, drawing, interacting with the Kinect, or just having a nerf gun fight”.

The Dumbo Tech Breakfast also takes place just around the corner, which is a perfect way to get a feel for what kind of opportunities are presented in the neighborhood. You can be sure to meet people looking to have interesting conversations and learn more about which space may be best for you.

The coworking magic generated in Dumbo is obviously addictive. I am already imagining the possibility of doing some 'nomad coworking' and renting out a desk myself…
