Coworking Spaces
Coworking compared in large cities and small towns
Coworking spaces in small towns are much younger than in big cities, but they are built in a shorter time. The tendency is that the smaller the town, the smaller the space, so it is not surprising that most coworkers in these spaces often know all the names of the other members. In our penultimate part of the Global Coworking Survey, we present the differences between coworking spaces in towns and cities.

Where is
Where is “coworking” most often searched for? Not only in cities where many coworking spaces are located. Conferences and frequent media reports help boost interest in the term outside of usual hotspots. Deskmag analysed Google search trends to discover the cities and countries where the most people type the phrase “coworking”, and when they do so.

1800 Coworking Spaces worldwide
Seven years ago, the first coworking space, at a fragile one-day old, was officially referred to for the first time as a ‘coworking space’. 2,557 days later, the global count of coworking spaces stands at 1,779. This number almost doubled since last year, with much of the growth attributed to Spain, Australia and Japan. Europe has also officially taken over the US as having the most coworking spaces.

Coworking in the US and the EU
The development of coworking communities depends not only on the spaces themselves, but also on the space around them. In the Global Coworking Survey, we compared and contrasted the development of the movement in the two largest coworking regions. Which coworkers feel healthier since joining a space? Which desire flexibility? Which coworking spaces connect better with one another? The 2nd Global Coworking Survey found out.
