The first Asia Coworking Conference is coming up

In Asia, a coworking conference is also on the horizon and will gather even more people. The Asian coworking Conference will be held in in Tokyo between the 21 and the 22 of September and they expect that around 3000 people from Asia and all over the world to be in attendance. Of course the coworking evangelists will lead the conference, but the team asks officials and big corporations to use and also spread the concept of coworking.

As coworking is piquing the interest of many, “ministries, agencies of the Japanese government and ASEAN economic community start getting interested and seek for the way of participation,” said Kyo Satani, co-organizer of the Coworking Asian Conference 2013.

Satani also organized the coworking Japan conference in 2012 and sees an evolution as well. “While in the coworking conference Tokyo 2012, most attendees were coworkers and coworking space owners (about 500 people), this conference will also welcome government officials and big companies.” According to Satani, Coworking does not only concern the freelancer and “after the big earthquake in March 2011, some bigger companies also started thinking about how to manage their employees without having them commute to their offices.”

Furthermore, he hopes that next year the conferences will be held all over Asia and not only in Japan. “This time we want to show how it works, and pass the button to the next host”. The goal of Asia Coworking is to connect both to the growing amount of coworking spaces in Asia and Japan and also to raise awareness beyond the coworking community.
